The Hour

Today I went to go watch a taping of the Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos (who has more letters in his last name than Gobi). It was great and interesting to watch. Very funny I have to say. But the funniest part would have been the little speech the floor director gave about the fire alarms. Here's the gist of it:

There are 3 stages to the fire evacuation
  1. Lights (but you can't see them because the studio is surrounded by a curtain)
  2. Sirens (but you can't hear them because they're filming)
  3. George Stroumboulopoulos running for the door
At this point, a physically disabled (and I think mentally too), start flailing his arms and yelling "But what about me? When you're running out, and everyone is going down the stairs, do you expect me to throw myself down the stairs?"

I think he was distressed, and good old George went over to him and said that he would carry him down. And so the man calmed down and the show went on! Quite good. Things learned from show:
  • George Stroumboulopoulos is shorter than me.
  • There are a lot of people into Second Life. Apparently lap dances come cheap in a virtual world. Not that the creator would "know" in either the virtual or real world. However, he did stress that you could do jobs you wouldn't normally do in real life. Like something in the sex trade. Of course virtual sex must be better than real life.
  • Do not sit next to the green screen because the lights they use will blind you.
