Bang Bang
Thom sent out an email earlier today talking about all of the shootings that are taking place around Toronto. And the latest one was really close to his home. What's sparked this violence all of a sudden? There's always been crime-- yes, but now it seems out of control.
It's reached all the way into the suburbs where someone was shot to death at the mall. When Thom came to visit me on Saturday, I was freaking out to him. Anyone could be sitting in his/her car at the mall waiting for someone! And what if you get mistaken for someone some gang is trying to assasinate? The person who was killed was a black male, in a silver SUV. How many other black males drive silver SUVs?
And who are these little fucking pricks who think they can run around shooting at random innocent people? Even going and killing not-so-innocent people? What about the American and Canadian goverment that lets so many illegal guns into the country?
I remember one time when I was in California. It had to have been when I was in grade 6 visiting my grandparents in LA. When you watched the morning/noon/evening news, there was always a new report of a drive-by shooting. The next news report would never talk about the previous one because there were other deaths to report. We went to San Diego one time to visit the zoo and I was terrified to drive back at night because most of the drive-by shootings happened at night. Just some stupid people who thought it would be fun to randomly open fire at cars filled with innocent people. I'm getting the same vibe about Toronto now. It's not safe to walk anywhere.

People will find ways to kill people, whether legal or not. You will never stop the determined, as witnessed with the US War on Drugs.
I dunno. I mean, cmon. Lots of shit happens every day apart from shootings. Lots of rapings, beatings, people killed by alcoholics, etc. That's life. Shit happens. No point living paralyzed in fear, because then what's the point of living anyways.
Not saying you shouldn't do anything about it, but be reasonable.

Well... I think that making it harder to kill people is a good thing. And if they're going to obtain guns with the intent on shooting someone we should at least create incentives for them to aim properly! No one is after me. But I don't want to get shot one day just because some idiot can't aim.
