Go get a pair of fucking glasses

I had a really bad day at work, where it was impossible to reason with a moron trying to cover her ass. I think my life could be a lot easier if she had just done her job. My morning was spent shaking with anger, biting my tongue because she had tried to guilt trip me with victims from Hurricane Katrina. Like what the fuck.

And so because of one retarded woman, little things have been setting me off. For example, the complete idiots who sell the ever so popular item Owl Optical Wallet Light for reading. The infomercial is full of asses who are too vain to wear glasses. "It's thin like a credit card so I can slip it into my wallet. I pull it out almost anywhere" and in the voice-over the man says, "don't let reading glasses cramp your style". There's nothing more retarded than looking at those losers sit in a dim restaurant who pull out this card to read. So much for the restaurant atmosphere-- the blue LED lights up the entire fucking place.

See I would be more understanding and sympathetic towards the people who can't afford reading glasses. On television its sells for $15 which sounds like a buy (it has a light and all), but I don't think reading glasses are terribly expensive, only about $10 at the drugstore. Plus shipping and handling for the Owl, you're looking at another $15, so you're better off just getting the glasses. I have an image of the old man grinning at the camera because he snagged the card at such an affordable price (damn stupid prick). Holy jeebus.

The part that really does my head in is when the voice over goes and lists all the tasks you can use the reading card for:

• read ingredients on a can
• read books
• verify receipts
• read computer screens
• look at buttons
• look at telephone key pad
• guide you to safety

and some other random things. Jesus fuck, don't be a moron, just get glasses. Become fashionable and make a fucking statement.

Bang Bang

Thom sent out an email earlier today talking about all of the shootings that are taking place around Toronto. And the latest one was really close to his home. What's sparked this violence all of a sudden? There's always been crime-- yes, but now it seems out of control.

It's reached all the way into the suburbs where someone was shot to death at the mall. When Thom came to visit me on Saturday, I was freaking out to him. Anyone could be sitting in his/her car at the mall waiting for someone! And what if you get mistaken for someone some gang is trying to assasinate? The person who was killed was a black male, in a silver SUV. How many other black males drive silver SUVs?

And who are these little fucking pricks who think they can run around shooting at random innocent people? Even going and killing not-so-innocent people? What about the American and Canadian goverment that lets so many illegal guns into the country?

I remember one time when I was in California. It had to have been when I was in grade 6 visiting my grandparents in LA. When you watched the morning/noon/evening news, there was always a new report of a drive-by shooting. The next news report would never talk about the previous one because there were other deaths to report. We went to San Diego one time to visit the zoo and I was terrified to drive back at night because most of the drive-by shootings happened at night. Just some stupid people who thought it would be fun to randomly open fire at cars filled with innocent people. I'm getting the same vibe about Toronto now. It's not safe to walk anywhere.
